Student Support & Outreach
As part of LR's culture of care, we help students overcome obstacles along their pathway to graduation.
College students can experience both minor and significant challenges on their path to graduation. The Office of Student Support and Outreach assists students in overcoming obstacles by connecting them with the resources and services that support their long-term success.
Lenoir-Rhyne's Office of Student Support and Outreach in Student Life partners with academic affairs, athletics, student accounts, financial aid, health and wellness and other offices to address a broad range of issues that may affect a student’s progress.
Student Concern Referral Form
The Student Concern Referral form is available to all faculty and staff to report any student need, including the following:
- Academic success, e.g., excessive absences or grade issues.
- Financial issues.
- Food or housing insecurity.
- Personal health and well-being, social connection, etc.
Once a referral is submitted, the Office of Student Support and Outreach will contact the student quickly and connect them with resources. Academic concerns for undergraduate students are referred immediately to the Office of Student Success and Retention for follow-up. Any concerns expressed for graduate students are referred to The Graduate School.
Submit a Student Concern ReferralCollaboration with Student Support and Outreach provides our student-athletes with the necessary tools and support to be successful in multiple aspects of their campus life.
Responsibilities Framework
Student Support and Outreach has adopted the following basic framework of responsibilities:
- Case management of Student Concern Referral responses.
- Creating care networks of support comprised of campus stakeholders to identify and address the needs of students most at-risk.
- Delivering instructor notifications for absences and/or other emergency situations.
We provide educational opportunities for faculty and staff to increase awareness of how and when to report a concern, and ways to show care and support in our daily interactions with our students.
